The Philippine Postal Service is 227 years old and remains undaunted by the challenges of technology. There is cause for celebration, indeed, although this time, there were no trumpet blasts, no marshals, and no motorcyle-riding letter carriers leading the parade to officially begin the celebration of the Philippine Postal Consciousness Day; nonetheless, the day was meaningfully spent.
Here's a rundown of the activities for the day:
* message of inspiration. Regional Director Lilia Barcelon delivered an inspiring message to get the celebration to a good start.
* dance exercises. Our muscles were stretched to the limit. The exercises made us realize that we are not as young as we want to believe.
* thrilling games. The parlor games more than tickled our bones and left us quenching for water ... and more water!
* singing contest. To our talented postal employees, this might serve as a significant step for them to become the next YouTube sensations (who knows?). Our congratulations to all the contestants but most especially to Stanny Garcia who took hom the gold to Belison, Antique.
* awarding of certificates of appreciation to employees who have retired from the service.
* awarding of certificate of recognition to Ms. Jelyn Duting, Postmaster of Banate, one of this year's recipients of the Top Postal Employees of the Year Award (national level)
* awarding of certificate of recognition to Ms. Tess Planco, Marketing Specialist for her various contributions, notably the Project DDD and Project Priority Pouch Service.
