Kalibo Post Office: Soon To Serve as a Community eCenter

Earlier this month, I posted an article about Kalibo Post Office being one of the post offices to initiate the offering of CeC tools and products aside from the usual postal products and services.

In line with the implementation of the project, PSO II and designated Regional IT Specialist Jose Marie Granzo underwent a weeklong training at the Development Academy of the Philippines conducted by the CICT to better understand the program and to ensure the efficient management and sustainability of the business operations in Kalibo.

Exactly what are the additional services Kalibo residents can expect? The general services to be provided by Community eCenters include:

• Voice (phone) and Data (email, internet)
• Business services
o Fax
o Scanning
o Printing
o Photocopying
• Computer training (basic and distance learning)
• LGU services
o Barangay clearances
o Complaints
o Residence certificates
o Real estate taxes
o Business permits and licenses
• NGA services
o Birth certificates
o Passport
o Licenses
• Special OFW services
o VoIP
o Email with webcam
o Job search and placements
• community-based services
o agricultural prices
o local content development
o local tourism

Kalibo Post Office To Serve As A Community eCenter Soon

Kalibo Post Office in Kalibo, Aklan is among the post offices tapped to serve as a Community eCenter. As such, Kalibo Post Office will begin to offer CeC tools and products aside from the usual postal products and services.

A partnership project of the Commission on ICT or CICT and the Philippine Postal Corporation, the establishment of Community eCenters (CeCs) in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao aims to “promote community development through the use of ICT for effective and efficient governance”.
